Dot Foods Indiana Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary
Dot Foods is proud to celebrate 10 years as a member of the Cambridge City, Indiana, community.
In the last decade, Dot Foods Indiana has experienced incredible growth. When the facility opened in October 2007, it employed 50 people. The Dot Foods Indiana family now includes more than 250 people working in warehouse, administrative and transportation roles. Forty of the founding Indiana employees remain at the facility today.
"We have an incredible team in Cambridge City," said Joe Tracy, Dot Foods CEO. "At Dot, we know our people are our greatest asset. In the last decade this group has risen to every challenge and exceeded expectations time and again. Their hard work every day is the key to our company's success."
The Cambridge City distribution center moved 310 million pounds of product in 2016, up from 180 million pounds in the facility's inaugural year. Dot has made numerous investments in the Indiana facility to support that growth and meet employees' needs. A fuel station to support Dot Transportation's (DTI) fleet was added in 2012. In 2014, Indiana became one of three Dot facilities to offer an on-site Family Health Clinic, making it easier for employees and their families to access healthcare.
A year later, Dot enhanced the warehouse break room to include more vending options and entertainment for employees. Also in 2015, DTI's Indiana team launched the Earn To Learn program, a first of its kind program for the company. Through a partnership with WorkOne, Dot uses state grant money to help pay for new drivers' training programs and provide them a salary while they complete the required schooling. A new driver break room, shower facility and lounge area are currently under construction.
Giving back to the communities Dot's employees call home has always been a core value of the company. Employees volunteer approximately 300 hours a year with local non-profits and schools. The Indiana charitable committee donated more than $80,000 to various causes in 2016.
"We love this community," explained Dot Foods Indiana General Manager Randy Templin. "We take our responsibility to be a good neighbor very seriously, and we are fortunate to call Cambridge City home. In the last ten years, the community has really taken Dot in; we've found great talent to add to our ranks and had the opportunity to be part of so many wonderful charitable efforts. I look forward to seeing what we will all accomplish together in the next ten years."
Foods Indiana held a 10-year anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 22. Employees and their families enjoyed games, bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo and a variety of refreshments. Members of the Indiana management team took turns in a dunk tank, and Dot offered tours of its warehouse.
