Customer EDI
The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the fastest, most efficient way for you to send or receive business documents.
This includes purchase orders (PO), PO confirmations, advance ship notifications (ASN), invoices, pricing, and sales reports. At Dot, we use EDI to place orders with our suppliers and communicate with our customers, brokers, and buying groups. It helps us lower costs and improve service to all of our partners.
EDI Benefits for Customers
Better Data
You'll have more confidence in data with EDI. It transmits item and price updates on a nightly or weekly basis.
Improved Accuracy
EDI can increase your fill rates because errors are eliminated from human error and manually keyed in orders.
Faster Unloading
An EDI ASN notification can save your warehouse team time with receiving and unloading trucks.
Admin Savings
Repetitive tasks such as opening and separating mail and performing comparisons will be removed from your processes.
Larger Offering
EDI gives you access to our product integration service, increasing the number of products you can sell without adding warehouse space.
Increased Efficiencies
Your buyers will save time by only reviewing the discrepancies in an order—because EDI matches our confirmations with your PO.
Getting Started with EDI
If you don't have an in-house EDI team set up (or aren't ready to do so), we recommend hiring a third-party provider. Partnering with an EDI provider can offer EDI software solutions, expertise, and on-going support to ensure improved business efficiencies. While this is not a complete list, it can get you started searching for a reputable EDI partner.
No EDI? No Problem.
Some companies can't incorporate EDI into their processes. We don't want this to be a barrier to working with us. While we still fully support EDI as a fast and effective method of placing orders, we have two additional ways to submit an order, which many of our customers are utilizing today.
Flat Files
We accept a wide range of flat file formats (.csv, fixed length, Excel, xml) through FTP/SFTP transports, or emailed directly to your Dot team member.
Our shopping website also accepts a preformatted flat file, allowing you to automate the purchasing process without any investment in EDI software.
