MOUNT STERLING, Ill. - In an effort to meet industry demand and combat space constraints due to growth, Dot Foods has broken ground on the eighth expansion of its warehouse facilities at its corporate headquarters. A brand new, 130,000-square-foot dry warehouse addition broke ground September 22 for an anticipated completion in June 2015. Dot's corporate headquarters will now be home to over 1.5 million square feet of warehouse space.
When completed, the warehouse will not only provide Dot increased dry warehouse space, but also increase resources in its cooler warehouse and create additional capacity for jobs in the Mount Sterling area.
"We've used many space-saving measures to extend the life of our current dry warehouses, but it's time to again increase our capacity," said Dot Foods Senior Vice President Jim Tracy. "This expansion will ease some of our capacity pain points across our dry and cooler warehouses. And, most importantly, it's much needed space for us to continue to grow."
Dot will now be better equipped to bring on additional manufacturers, which will create more volume and more local jobs.
"We see a spike in hiring needs with every expansion," said Dot Foods Warehouse Recruiting Manager Christina Crandall. "It gives the company a chance to really stretch its legs and continue to grow. So, we anticipate demand for workers will follow."
The Stellar Group, Inc., based out of Jacksonville, Fla., has managed many of Dot's recent expansions and will lead this most recent expansion with the help of several area contractors. A recent 110,000-square-foot cooler expansion was completed last April at Dot Foods under the direction of Stellar
In addition to the new warehouse space, Dot is expanding its office space with a 64-cube, two-office expansion located above the new Dorothy's Market in Mount Sterling to accommodate a growing office support staff.
