DYERSBURG, Tenn. (July 18, 2017) - Dot Foods, the nation's largest food industry redistributor, congratulates  Dyersburg warehouse order selector Dillon Jones for earning top honors in the sit down/stand up forklift competition at the company's 2017 Forklift Rodeo National Championship.  Jones, of Dyersburg, is a two-year employee with a spotless safety record. This year marked his first appearance as a finalist in the National Championship.

Each June, Dot brings finalists from all 10 of its distribution centers across the country to the company's corporate headquarter in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, to face off in the Forklift Rodeo National Championship. The contestants are selected in regional competitions at each Dot location. Finalists qualify on one of four pieces of material handling equipment: pallet jack, forklift, narrow aisle or order picker. They must show mastery of their job duties and safety practices by navigating an obstacle course on their respective piece of equipment while balancing a trash can with a basketball on top of it. Participants are penalized for bumping into the walls of the course, improper stops, horn usage and dropping the basketball. Jones finished first in the forklift competition. Finalists from Mt. Sterling, Illinois; Modesto, California; and Cambridge City, Indiana, took top prizes on the other three pieces of equipment.

"The Forklift Rodeo is an event we all look forward to each year," said Matt Duggan, Dot Foods Tennessee General Manager. "It allows us to have a great time with members of our warehouse team from across the company, while recognizing the incredible skill and dedication of our employees. At Dot, we are committed to recognizing and rewarding great work, and this is one way we do that in the warehouse. Congratulations to Dillon and all our winners for a job well done."

As a national champion, Jones wins his choice of an all-expense-paid vacation to one of the following destinations: Cancun, Mexico; Disney World; San Antonio, Texas; St. Petersburg Beach, Florida; Las Vegas; or a Caribbean cruise.
