MT. STERLING, Ill. - Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dot Foods, the nation's largest food industry redistributor, held a ribbon cutting today to celebrate the opening of its new $1.1 million driver lounge facility. This first of its kind for the company, the facility will serve as a home away from home for more than 1,200 DTI drivers who will have access to it while at Dot's corporate headquarters in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

Dot Foods Chief Operating Officer Dick Tracy, DTI President Paul Mugerditchian and DTI Illinois Director of Operations Duskee Kassing took part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Drivers were also on hand to view and try out the new facility.

"Our drivers are the backbone of our business, and we're proud to offer this type of facility to our drivers to show our appreciation," says Kassing. "We're excited to provide a space that not only has all of the comforts of home but also a place where drivers can connect and socialize with other drivers."

The 2,800 square-foot driver lounge is located on the southern edge of Dot Foods' Mt. Sterling campus. The lounge includes showers, a full kitchen, a laundry room, a TV room, a computer room and a quiet room for reading and resting. The building also includes a covered porch and back patio area with a pergola and grills. The lounge was designed by Klinger and Associates of Illinois and is a prairie-style commercial building with gable roof and multiple dormers. Construction began in January 2016.

"After being on the road, it will be nice to have a comfortable, familiar place to come back to," said Monti Estes, Customer Delivery Specialist for DTI. "DTI really does understand what it's like being an over-the-road driver, and this is another example of how they take care of us."

The driver lounge in Mt. Sterling is one of several major facility improvements Dot Foods and DTI have in progress across the country. A major expansion and renovation project is underway at Dot Food's Vidalia, Georgia facility, and more are planned for 2016. The company reached new sales volume and hiring records in 2015 and moved up to #68 on Forbes list of America's Fastest Growing Private Companies.  DTI was pleased to work with skilled local contractors on the lounge, including Trotter General Contracting, Inc.; Rees Construction Company; Diamond Construction; Brown Electrical; Brinkman Plumbing Contractors, Inc.; Entrup Drywall & Painting; Central Illinois Epoxy, LLC; Evans-Mason, Inc.; and Elsner's Landscape Construction Service.
