MT. STERLING, Ill.(June 20, 2013) - Dot Transportation Inc. (DTI), a subsidiary of Dot Foods, the nation's largest food redistributor, will open a satellite location in Charles City, Iowa, in the coming weeks. DTI representatives are currently scouting locations and are recruiting 10 experienced truck drivers to help the company get this new location off the ground. Interested drivers are encouraged to apply online for the Customer Delivery Specialist position at www.drivefordot.com.
Charles City will be the seventh satellite location in the DTI system, which creates a new avenue for driver recruitment as well. Charles City is already a significant commercial and transportation center for the area, conveniently located on the Avenue of the Saints. This community of 7,652 people is also on a main travel lane between Dot Foods' headquarters in Mount Sterling, Ill. and Dot customers. DTI is Dot Foods' only shipping partner and co-locates in all of Dot Foods' eight distribution centers.
"Dot Foods and DTI are growing steadily, despite the recession, so expanding the geographic areas we can hire from is a principal strategy to support continued expansion," said Paul Mugerditchian, President of Dot Transportation. "These are the perfect locations because our Mount Sterling drivers will be able to take a shipment of products to the new drop lot and return in one day. Our new drivers will then pick up those shipments and deliver them to Dot Foods' customers.
DTI recruiters are looking in Charles City, Cedar Falls and the Mason City area for 10 drivers who are already industry leaders. "Since this is a satellite location, these first 10 drivers will need to be self-sufficient, so we are looking for experience for these positions," said DTI Recruiter Dana Chapman. "However, we plan to grow the Charles City satellite so I encourage less experienced drivers to apply as well - we could have more positions available soon."
This DTI satellite location will allow drivers in this area of Iowa to work for DTI for the first time. According to indeed.com, over-the-road truck drivers in this area of Iowa make an average of $47,000 per year. Experienced DTI drivers make an average of $65,000 annually - so for drivers in this area, a job driving for DTI could potentially mean an increase in average pay plus more home time, as DTI drivers average two days per week at home. DTI drivers also earn excellent benefits including pay on actual miles; delivery pay; pick-up and layover pay; fuel incentives; quarterly and annual bonuses; paid personal days, sick days, vacations, holidays; benefits including health, dental, vision and 401(k) with match; short and long-term disability; experience pay and exceptional unload pay.
DTI is currently working with the local Charles City Chamber of Commerce to scout potential locations, with the only requirement being parking space for a minimum of 10 tractor trailers, preferably on a secure lot. Interested parties with space to rent on existing parking lots may contact Sarah Wolfe at DTI at 1-800-366-3687.
Founded in 1960 in Mt. Sterling, neither Dot Foods nor DTI has had a layoff in the entire history of the company. For more information about all of Dot's current career opportunities, visit www.dotfoods.com/careers.
