Dot Foods recently received the 2012 Corporate Leadership Award from the Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The award was presented to Dot Foods at the chapter's annual meeting on June 21, 2012, and is meant to recognize an organization, corporation or foundation that best exemplifies the spirit of charitable giving in the state of Illinois.
"We're extremely honored to be recognized for our charitable work," said Suzanne Kassing, Dot's Charitable Committee chair. "We're glad that it's being recognized, but the most important thing in all of this is that people in need are being helped."
Dot was nominated for its charitable donations to the local Hero Campaign, the American Red Cross' largest community-wide fundraiser, as well as contributions to the American Red Cross' efforts during Hurricane Katrina, and 2011 Pacific earthquake and tsunami disaster.
Since 2006, Dot has donated $15,500 to the local Hero Campaign and over $180,000 towards the American Red Cross' national and international disaster efforts.
"Dot Foods is a primary example of a business that truly supports their surrounding communities through their philanthropic gifts," said Pam Shaffer, executive director of the Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross. "The philanthropy demonstrated by Dot Foods is above and beyond, and I cannot think of a more deserving company to receive the local Corporate Leadership Award from the American Red Cross serving Adams, Brown and Pike Counties."
