Vidalia, Ga. - Dot Foods, the nation's largest food redistributor, is proud to announce the opening of its Family Health Center; an on-site clinic to provide employees and their families with convenient and affordable medical care.
The first-class facility, complete with its own medical staff, offers an outstanding alternative to independent health centers for Dot Foods employees and their families covered by the company's health insurance plan.
"Many times our employees will avoid the doctor for years, maybe they can't get an appointment that works with their schedule or they're afraid of the cost or they have a balance due," said Dot Foods' Georgia Distribution Center Human Resources Manager Jennifer Evans. "Our truck drivers and warehouse employees work non-standard hours, so now that it is so convenient, less expensive, and payroll deducted, our employees will be able to see a doctor on a regular basis. That boosts overall health and therefore reduces healthcare costs for the company."
On-site clinics offer employers savings that are passed down to employees through more consistent, and potentially reduced, premiums. In addition to convenient, affordable and payroll-deductible healthcare, on-site visits can yield tremendous savings for employees in need of preventative and maintenance care.
Depending on the type of visit and the group health plan elected by the employee, visits to the Family Health Center, lab work and medication can possibly be of no charge to the employee, encouraging employees to manage illnesses and stay healthier.
TransformHealthRx, a family-owned company focused on affordable, accessible and accountable healthcare, operates Dot Foods' on-site Family Health Center. The center offers primary-care services and pediatric acute care for children over six years old to workers and their families near their workplace with appointments available before and after shifts. The center's medical team also conducts routine physicals and annual gynecological exams. Lab work can be obtained on-site, as can common medications, and the center will refer patients with complex conditions to their specialist.
Dot is one of few mid-sized companies in the region, or nation, to provide its employees with an on-site healthcare option.
"Our goal is to provide a convenient location that enables our employees and their families to achieve and maintain optimal health through the prevention and early detection of chronic health conditions, as well as treatment of acute illnesses," noted Evans.
